IN CHARACTER

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: While I'm open to it, Irene is completely unused to it from anyone besides another Claymore.

PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: She is both comfortable and very good with this. I would prefer she not lose any more limbs, though.

KILLING/DEATH: Irene would be less than thrilled, but I'm okay with it.

RELATIONSHIPS: Would require a great deal of CR-building before she would even consider it, but in theory it could happen.

PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION: While psychic abilities sort of exist in Claymore, they're not particularly well-defined and are mostly explained away as a sort of side effect of a warrior syncing their yoma energy with another, or occasionally having a remnant of someone's spirit taking up brainspace in a character who also has pieces of that person's flesh within their body. More traditional psychic powers aren't really a thing, and Irene accordingly has no real psychic defenses. Her surface thoughts will usually be concentrated on whatever task is at hand, and someone reading her mind will also notice that her control over her emotions is iron-clad. A deeper dive will reveal that Irene actually has a lot of strong emotions and a considerable amount of trauma; poking at that trauma, however, is a Very Bad Idea that could have major repercussions for Irene and any unfortunate soul who happens to be within range. (Basically, please ask me first if you want your character to go diving into her psyche.)

MAGICAL INFORMATION: N/A (magic doesn't exist in her canon, although some of the things that do happen seem awfully close)

MEDICAL INFORMATION: Missing her left arm. Also has a large unhealed incision stretching from throat to groin, which is held shut by strong thread.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

VISUAL: Tall and striking-looking with a slender build. Extremely pale, with silver-white hair down to her thighs, silver eyes (gold and catlike when she's powered up), and pointed ears. Military-like bearing. Typically wears a cloak and an outfit with far too many belts, with her sword sheathed on her back. She is missing her left arm, but this is less immediately apparent when she's got the cloak on.

AURAL: Irene's voice is low and a bit husky, and generally devoid of emotion.

OLFACTORY: Like many Claymores, she tends to smell like blood.

DEMEANOUR: Outwardly the epitome of cool, calm, and collected (if also tending towards a certain amount of blunt honesty), she is very closed off in demeanor. This is a necessity; her Quicksword technique requires her to pour all of her yoma energy into her right arm, and she needs to retain absolute control over her emotions to compensate. If asked about her demeanor, this is the reasoning she will give. What she won't say is that she also suffers from lingering trauma stemming from the incident that cost her her arm, her team, her place in the Organization, and her former comrade/rival in one fell swoop.


ABILITIES


SWORDSMANSHIP: Like all Claymores, Irene has been extensively trained in swordfighting - chiefly against nonhuman foes, but also against other warriors if need be.

CLAYMORE PHYSIOLOGY: Irene has increased physical strength, stamina, and speed compared to a human, and requires less sustenance to survive. She can also tap into her yoma energy to increase that strength, stamina, and speed even further, although tapping too far into those reserves raises the risk of her losing control and permanently Awakening into a monstrous version of herself with no remaining connection to her former humanity and a craving for human guts. (The general point of no return is 80%.) Claymores are also capable of doing things like changing the length of their vocal cords or purging all toxins (including alcohol) from their bodies - or, conversely, letting certain toxins (like alcohol) actually affect them. They are also capable of reattaching severed limbs... or attaching someone else's severed limbs in place of what they lost.

REGENERATION: OFFENSIVE-TYPE: All Claymores have at least some regenerative abilities, although the strength of that ability depends on both the warrior's overall power level and her type (Offensive or Defensive). An Offensive-Type warrior prioritizes going all out against her opponent, while a Defensive-Type warrior prioritizes survival. This mindset is reflected in their self-healing abilities: a Defensive-Type warrior can heal injuries more quickly, with less effort and less yoma energy; if she loses a limb, she can regrow one in hours or even minutes and it will be as good as new. Offensive-Types aren't so lucky; it takes more time and energy to heal wounds of comparable severity, and while they often can regrow limbs, it will take weeks if not months and the regrown limb will be no stronger than that of a human.

ACUTE YOMA ENERGY SENSING AND SUPPRESSION: Irene, like most warriors, is capable of sensing and analyzing the yoma energy of other warriors, yoma, and Awakened Beings. This includes picking up on how much yoma energy a given warrior is releasing at a given time (the only time she's been shown struggling with this was when attempting to read Teresa, a vastly powerful warrior whose power even the most skilled energy-reader in the series found difficult to interpret). She was also able to sense Teresa's energy within Clare, the protagonist (who was made into a Claymore using Teresa's flesh); this was in fact what lured her out of hiding after her desertion. Conversely, she is also able to completely suppress her own yoma energy, something she kept up for years if not decades after deserting. (This, along with her being an Offensive-Type warrior, is likely why she never tried to regrow her arm between her desertion and her meeting the protagonist in Scene 36.)

SPECIAL SWORD TECHNIQUE: QUICKSWORD: Technique created by Irene that entails channeling all of the user's yoma energy into one arm, essentially allowing that arm (and only that arm) to Awaken. This results in a barrage of sword hits at such velocity that they are impossible to see with the naked eye. To an onlooker, it is as if the user hasn't even drawn her sword. While the technique is powerful, it also requires a tremendous amount of concentration in order to keep the user's yoma energy contained to her arm and not let it spread throughout her body. Irene has mastered the technique to such an extent that she doesn't appear to be exerting any effort whatsoever when she uses it. She can use the Quicksword offensively or defensively as needed.
